1968 280SL

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post. I am associated with a few other forums for personal use, but I am helping out a neighbor for this. My neighbor has a 1968 280SL and it currently needs a new alternator belt and alternator.

I was hoping there would be someone who would be willing to give me some direction on how to do that. I would like to turn some wrenches before school starts up again.

Sincerely,

Taylor

I'd say just verify if it has a generator or alternator, if it has external or internal regulator as that will all factor into what parts you are buying, or give you direction if you choose to upgrade to something more modern than what may already be in there.

You can use a Bosch AL 72X 55amp instead of the AL 64X 35amp OEM. The AL 72X has the same electrical connectors and frame size of the AL 64X.
