Post Need help in Downtown LA, my Fintail won't start

I tried to adjust my points, and now I can't get the car to start.
I just need some help from some local Benz dude to figure this one out, free beer provided.. Anyone in LA ?

I have this kind of reverse Midas touch whenever I work on a car, everything I touch turns to crap and those who know me on here know my philosophy is if it works for gods sakes don't mess with it. I should have known better ..

Be respectful to your superiors. If you have any.

Scott,
I used a dwell meter to set the points. Grab a matchbook cover and use that as a shim to set the gap. Crank the engine slightly until the points ride on a high point on the cam. Loosen the screw, set the matchbook cover between the points and tighten screw. It should slide thru the points with slight resistance. Be sure that the long condensor wire is not compromised.
Good Luck

I wish there was a way to put a fully electronic Bosch dizzy on a Fintail or maybe a Pertronix Ignitor, points are just a pain in the ass from the previous century..

Finally got it started with new points and the factory gap with a feeler gauge, all is well,

The final verdict: I've driven this car hard for a few thousand miles and the points were just crystallized. I want to thank Dave for putting a fresh set of points in the glovebox, and for support, this is such a great car, and I actually fixed it myself without screwing it up, whew!!

Forgive me if you have answered this in your post and I am not knowledgeable enough to realize it, but can you install a Hot Spark system in that car using your existing distributor?

I can't speak for others, but personally I am much more likely to order from you if you would put that experience to use assisting members on the forum rather than your only two posts being advertisements.
