300SD to 300D sunroof question

I have a 1983 300SD that is bodily falling apart, which is a damn shame because the engine still runs like a top with over 320,000 miles. anyway, just purchased a 1984 300D in decent condition despite a lack of love... most systems still in working order with a little help. I have had Mercs of this vintage my entire driving life and have done almost every repair that is routine (alternator, starter, glow plugs, and just last week w the new one the ignition switch and lock)
just so you know my level of experience, i'm not afraid to get in there and work on the car.

here's the question: can I use the sunroof motor from the 300SD in the 300D? the 300SD sunroof works great, the 300D gets stuck and seems to be an issue with the gears/connection with the motor. I had to hand crank it closed with difficulty and it seemed not to be the first time that it got stuck. it's a minor inconvenience, since the AC actually works on the 300D (!) but i'd like to fix it since I've pretty much decided that the 300SD will be a parts car where I can use it if possible.

any help (and instruction since I've never done this before) is much appreciated!

PS : is it recommended for me to get the kit from Mercedes source? or can I just use white lithium grease?

The motor should be the same between the two chassis, I believe. The difference will be in the cable. You should be able to look at them and tell.

And yes, while it's expensive, you can buy a lifetime supply of sunroof lube (and you should!) for about $35 from the dealer.
