Post Ratios?

Think I have sourced a rear differential from a v8 sedan (108). One is from a US spec car, the other from a Euro/Japan car.

Any insight on the ratios and which would be more drivable?

Thanks

The diff ratio is stamped on the diff. hard to describe without a pic but here goes - Look at the diff from I think the left side. Look from side on. There is a flat metal web part on the side of the diff, whose face is vertical. The ratio is stamped on there.
Most euro ones are 3.46 from memory, but some US cars also had 3.27. Diff ratios are all a trade-off between highway cruising and take-off speed. I have a 3.46 in my 450 powered W111 and it is fine on the highway.

Look for an on-line calculator of engine rpm given a diff ratio and tyre diameter, then plug the ratios in and see what rpm they give. a 2.8 is not an overly torquey motor for a heavy car so I would be worried that a 3.27 is putting too much strain on the engine at normal speeds around town.

Thanks for the information. I will look for the stamping on the differential.
