boot ( trunk ) full of h2o

Hi there one and all,

My first question of this august mob - I just inherited a w123 280e ( 1977 ) from an aged aunt who has had the thing from new.

It seems fine despite not having been used for a few years - new tyres and a new exhaust and it seems to be getting better as it gets used.

However - it is a particlarly rainy time here in the land that time forgot, and the boot ( trunk ) is getting rain into it. It seems to be mainly at the sides of the area - either side of the spare wheel well. And it seems to slosh out as soon as the car moves from the driveway.

Is this a usual thing ? Are there drain holes in these recesses that may need clearing out?

All help and advice welcome ,

Kind regards,

At the bottom of the tyre wells are the drains.
Two places to check initially ,the rear light inner seals have most likely disintegrated letting in water The star motif on the boot is letting in water where the lockpin seals holding it have gone brittle. The water travels along the inner frame ,along the boot light and drips further down.
