No Reverse Gear - W108 Automatic Trans

All of the sudden today my 1970 280SE won't engage reverse. My wife said it made a noise when she tried to put it in R gear this morning. Checked fluid level is ok. It engages drive ok, but I didn't drive it. I let it warm up 10 minutes, still no reserve. No noise now, it basically feels like neutral, just nothing. Tranny dead? What should I do?

Floor or column shift? Could be a bushing on shifter mechanism or shift rods crapped out. Does the shifting have a different 'feel' than before, kinda floppy at all?

Column shift. I tried to adjust the reserves band no luck. Reserve band must have broke thus the noise. Thanks.

So, getting back to this again. Has anyone fixed this by just dropping the pan? Trans guys told me the reverse band bolt probably broke and fell into the pan. Seems like if I could get to the bolt with the pan off, I could replace it....car drives fine in forward gears.
