Thanks much. I texted the guy. I'll call him in the morning to get the skinny on the engine. The engine has to be in running condition, of course. If I am understanding correctly, the the 1986 300 SL Engine could be dropped right into the 280 C frame. Is that your understanding, Fonzi? Anyone else have knowledge of this, Dr. Eurocar is this what you're talking about?
I'm just assuming a few things:
- m110 was available in r107 280sl
- 300sl r107 sits on same subframe as 280sl m110 and all r/c107 and w114/115.
- I believe the SOHC 300sl 6cyl made from 86-89 is a m104, but I'm not sure.
I don't know about the fuel management system, but I assume that the 300sl is a KE-jet like the 560sl of the same 86-89 period. It has more stuff going on than I understand, but I assume that the 300e would be the same.
I don't know what I'm doing, so I like the idea of simple k-jet because I've learned the system and there are no electronics at all. That's why I kind of like the idea if a k-jet m110.
D-jet are great for megasquirt conversions, but I think finding a d-jet m110 in the US is nearly impossible.
I'm a fan of the m110 if you can't tell. I love driving my 280slc stick shift. Very rev-happy DOHC engine, but older design and replaced by the 3.0 (m104 I believe).
