Question W108 Steering Coupler

Is anyone familiar with this MTC brand of steering coupler they offer on autohaus?

https://www.autohausaz.com/search/pr...5%20460%200510

also, i have looked around and can only find a few DIY threads for this, none seem to have pictures. any tips on doing this job?

thanks

This would be for a 1972 w108, not sure if that makes a difference but yea it appears to be part #543

they are not safe to use , the original design has a bolts location that lock the coupler to the shafts , the other does not . this could ???? allow the coupler to slide off the shaft if not tighten enough .

good info to know, i figured something like a steering coupler would be best to go OE. That price difference is tempting though!

anyone else know another site that might have a cheaper price?

the best i have been able to find for an OE coupler is $135 shipped

part # 115 460 0510

thanks

I have the MTC on my 72. I believe it was pretty much identical to original. I don't see an issue with it.

About 2 years/12,000 miles. It looks just like the original. I did it when I rebuilt my steering box.

the steering shaft on the box and wheel has a slot , the 2 bolts go thru the slots to secure the coupler , the cheap coupler has a design flaw , the bolts dont go thru those slots , they are position too high . i would use the cheap coupler on my own car , but not on a cust car .
