Tach rpm's when speed is 65 mph.

But, first, I have been having shifting issues on my '76 450SL. Mech is chasing vacuum issues, thinking there's a tie-in. He's also adjusted the shift plate around and no help. When cold and hot, it must get to 3k+ rpms to go to second and it's a hard shift. Getting from two to three is same pattern. This is a real pain in town driving, which is my majority of miles.

The aggravation is the noisy, high rpms. If I let off on the accelerator, like "clutching" a manual trans., it'll shift up to the next when warm.

Now, the title query. What do you readers find the rpm's at when highway driving at 65 mph? At 70? Mine seems to be winding high. Curious if I'm on target.

Take a peek, as you drive or if you recall. Input/help on both issues is appreciated.

Has the problem just started or has it always been there?
