Unhappy 1979 SL 350 turn signal - hazard lights not working

Hello all got an issue with the hazard lights - turn indicators

if you use the turn signal or the hazard warning switch the lights come on and stay on and the switch is making a huge amount of noise (can only assume this is the switch working over time ) - i have noticed the light are not solidly on there is a pulse going through them .

All lamps work

i have pulled the hazard switch out and the best i can i have metered it and it appears to be working - i am assuming this contains the relay for the turn signals as its rather large .

plug section i have 8 wires going to 7 pins is this normal ?

any help would be brilliant i am at a loss now

Mark

Yep, bad relay (the big, red part of the switch). Time for a new switch assembly.

sl 350 79 , you mean a 79 450 sl .there could be 2 relay on this , the red knob 001 821 88 51 , and a small flasher relay 001 544 97 32 .those 2 part may no longer be there especially the red switch . the red switch has sliding contacts in there that get corroded .

Just behind the gear shift under the dash, try pressing the hazard switch a few times in and out, the relay contacts get bad.

Probably because on your car it sounds like you have the one-piece switch/relay assembly.
