560 SL 1986 there is this red light

I am attaching pictures of the dashboard

there is this red light comes on often do not know what it is.

if it is a us model , there is nothing there , at time on a used car the seller will switch bulb location to hide something that is not working .

here is what I would do.

I would pull the instrument cluster out - very easy to do using a paint can opener found at Home Depot or other stores like that. You put the opener into the space between the cluster and the dash and pull the cluster out. There is nothing holding it in but friction.
Once it is out, look for a missing bulb in a marked spot. As was said before many times people move the bulbs around. that is probably what is really lighting up.

Before removing the cluster, if you turn the key to the "on" position all the lights should go on. The one that does not might be the culprit.
