Yeah I know people generally steer clear of these wheels due to the tire sizes as well which is a shame!
I actually bought then for my 74 vw camper as they bolt straight on and are a good size and offset! Plus the vintage tyres suit the bus.
The guy I got them from said they were definitely from a merc as he mainly dealt with merc parts and he had bought a bulk of parts and wheels from Austria. The rest were split rims etc so had no interest in these. All 5 of the wheels have 82 stamped on them so I'm assuming that would be year?
1982 would correspond to when BMW was using those on some models. What is your goal with the "look" for your VW camper? I think the wheels would look too new for it.
