280SE A/C question
I have a newly acquired 72 280SE and while the A/C does work I"m not sure it's working correctly. As many of you know, there are two control knobs. One is the on/off and fan speed. The other is for temperature.
For example with the temp knob set about half way and I turn the fan knob on, the fan is on it's highest setting. If I leave it there the compressor never kicks in. But as I turn it to a lower fan speed and it has to be pretty low, the compressor kicks in and the little green light comes on. It's blowing cold air. It works this way for a few minutes and then the green light goes out and in a few minutes it comes back on. When the light goes out and you try to turn the temperature knob to colder doesn't seem to have any affect. And if you turn the fan speed up, the green light goes out and never comes back on.
I think the last owner had it recharged with 134 and not R12 if that makes
any difference. It doesn't seem to be working correctly to me.
