Just Bought A W114

Hi all,
I am a regular participant in the 107 forum, but I have been interested in a sedan with the "classic" Mercedes look to use as a driver. Through a BW friend I found the following W114 and bought it this afternoon. I am sure I will need tons of help from the forum to get this car running and in shape. I look forward to getting to know everyone. Following are some pics of how I found it.

I assume it doesn't, but I don't know. There was no battery and it has been sitting in a field/ storage lot for 3 years. The previous owner is deceased, but his wife said he drove it there.

The pics I posted are of the worst parts of the car. I was taking pics of all the negatives to send to Fonzi so he could give me feedback before I made an offer. I believe the car will clean up very well. If the engine is shot will the 4.5 out of my '74 450SLC parts car fit?

That is a real compliment compared to the treatment I got after posting on the 107 forum.

It is a 1971 with the M130 2.8 liter engine. What are your thoughts on that motor?

This is the car that was listed FS as an 8 cylinder. Now that I see the interior is the blue I had assumed it was, other than the exterior color, it is identical to mine, and much less rusty. The dark blue is a much better color, especially for a car with rust.

I had a blast getting mine running and learning the ignition systems.

At the low cost of the car, I'm thinking that keeping costs down will be key.
- if there's any significant fuel in the tank, drain it.
- new fuel in the tank? Or just run car off a gas can?

That would probably cover the fuel side of things.

The spark side will just require a multimeter and maybe a box full of spare parts from your 1974 parts car.

I checked AutohausAZ and parts for this car are a lot cheaper than the 107. I may go Sunday with a 27MM socket and a breaker bar and see if I can get the engine to turn over. Who knows, a battery and fresh fuel and it may start.
