Post 1979 450 SL Silver with Red interior

I heard that in 1979 that Mercedes made only 50 of the silver bodies with red interior. Is this true? How would I go about finding this information out? Mine is a a 1979 silver/red with 40,000 actual miles. This would be good info to find out if its only one of fifty. Thanks Scott

My initial thought is to send your request to the Classic Center in Irvine, CA. They surely have this info and are very good about getting back to clients. Your car is a "Classic" in their eyes today so would fall under their scope of interest.

I would doubt the combination is that rare. Those are the standard "in" colors for that year in a huge number of marques. The big three sold thousands of car in those colors, not that many european cars other than benz did those colors then.
