Where on earth someone got the idea that car was worth $100k is beyond me. Half that MAYBE, in absolutely pristine condition...

A full tear down restoration could be handled by the Classic Center. They could build you the car you want for around $30k. It would be everything you can dream of. I suspect there is a slight chance you can find this car in the wild, but it will be a compromise, missing a few of the details you desire.

For a few grand, you can snag the most bestest example of the model, then send it out to made into the exact car you want.

Do the doors always open that wide on the coupes?

yes, I could, but I think that:
  • There are enough out there to wait and search before going the restoration route. Especially for $30k, I should be able to find a really, really nice car
  • I highly doubt that the Mercedes Classic Center does any restoration on a "tear down" for $30k

If you bring a car fro a full restoration there, I would budget close to if not above to six figures, irrespective on what Benz it is (Multiply this number at your leisure for anything significant such as pre-war, 300SLs, etc.). I can ask Mike Kunz when I see him next.

That white car looks stunning to me, because of the very cool light beige interior that works very well.

My buddy has a 250c that looks great and is currently getting a refresh before he makes it available for sale. He's a Benz guy and has owned many Oldtimers so tends not to skimp on the process. He also has a W113, W111 coupe in resto and owns another W111 coupe in addition to several other cars.

It's a lovely medium/dark blue but no sunroof and an auto box. If you have any interest I'll get you more info. Car is in Oregon.

Mike,
I don't know if you are referring to my car but it is not white.
it is beige on beige.

i was not sure about the color at the beginning, was not my number one choice, but the fact that is factory color with no rust, scratches or dents it was a no brainer to me.

now i love it, it is a good combo and i will keep it in this color.

as for the door if it opens this far or not, this is my first coupe so i don't know if this is the case with all coupes.

Thank you.

Might check with this guy, he's in your neck of the woods and has some clean cars:

Mercedes Motoring

He's mainly diesel, but has some standard cars as well.

Not yet, winter has been long and bad, fame of thrones style :-(

I update my build thread with few more pictures of painted parts but the big assembly should start in the next few weeks

Thank you for asking
