Help with SL 450 W107 1980 - car chocking at 2'000 rpm

Hi Guys,

I'm new here although I created an account some time ago.
I am more active on the other forum in the C63 AMG section.

I am coming here to seek help about a problem of my best friend's 1980 SL 450.

The car runs perfectly when idle. Repairs done so far:
- new fuel system
- new fuel pump
- new fuel lines
- no unwanted air coming in or out in the air intake

The problem is the following - increasing the throttle to 2'000 rpm the car chokes, spits, shoots and dims.
We are guessing there is a problem with the K-jetronic injection. Any ideas what can be the cause ?

Any input will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Threads without pics are useless so here are three

check fuel pressure 1 st , and us car 1980 has a oxy sensor / ecu .remove air filter housing , and see if frequency valve buzz with engine running .if it does not , you need to test the pink relay around fuse box [ early voltage protection relay .] .with air filter off , does the air flow plate moves downward while accelerating , and if you help with your finger , will engine accelerate . when did this started .

What do you mean by chokes, spits, shoots and dims? Is it stalling and backfiring? Is it doing this at 2000 rpm under load or just sitting?

The r/c107 forum is pretty active. I am going to guess maybe a fuel delivery issue, but I don't know.
