Fonzi, have you checked/cleaned the fuel filter that is located inside of the gas tank yet?

Nope. I did that on my 1978. Significant work in my opinion. I don't think this car is having any fuel issues. I think the issues are all related to spark and maybe mixture. Thank you for asking. (Edit: oh... Tiny flecks of dirt and dust could make it to the carb and cause problems??? Shouldn't the fuel filter catch anything? Or would low fuel pressure cause rich running like in a k-jet? The car did come with a new fuel pump, not installed.)

I should not hi-jack though.

Please see what (little) I have done here since picking up the car Thursday night: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/vint...ml#post7972857

I had problems with the Mercedes Benz transistorized ignition control unit. I was getting no spark at random times. The car would just die out and after 10 minutes or overnight it would start again. This made the car totally undependable. Did some research here and with help of other members, I decided to install the HotSpark eletronic ignition and this bypassed the Mercedes setup. This made a huge difference in the way the car started, idled and ran.

I commented on the other thread, you should be able to rotate the distributor.

I read the thread that you linked to. The car is worth keeping.
