we all discussed the heater flap at length a few months ago. I think all of us one way or another permanently closed the flap. I wired mine shut. A big issue in in summer, the carb gets vapor lock from too hot. search this forum for "vapor lock"
you can check the accel pump fairly easy, just take off the top cover, note there is a screw in the center. squirt some kroil in there first so you dont bung it up. I dont think you can buy just that part, comes with rebuild, but i may be able to take one out of my spares carbs if you need. it is leather and can tear if stuck for a long time.
in theory when cold starting press accel pedal just 1/2 way once only ane crank this starts. otherwise you can flood. This is also suppose to set fast idle, though my car doesnt seem to do that.
Hot start is hold pedal all the way down and hold till starts, dont pump, or again you flood.
as far a warps and vac leaks, spray starter fluid around carb and see if idle changes.
the jamie kopp method is the only way to adjust these. start at the beginning and go in the order listed.
