Is there any coachbuilder's tag on the body or under the hood? I am no expert on those cars but the only ones I've seen three chrome strips on the trunk are those cars with rear mounted spare tires and even then they are a different shape and style. Those don't exactly look "Mercedes" to my eye, and the shape of the rear fender apex seems much more sculpted than on the normal cars. I'd say that, coupled with the extra vent window, may mean this was a custom built car made in era. It should be documented somewhere by the sellers if this is the case. Mercedes did have their Karosserie at Sindelfingen, which is another possibility, but again the details don't seem Mercedes built to me.
