Data Card Code 493

I am decoding the Fahrzeug-Daten for a 1964 220 SEb. All is good with the exception of code 493 for which I can not find any explanation. Does anyone have a reference for code 493 for the 1964 era?

Thanks. I had come up with the "Heavy Duty Heat Exchanger, U.S. Version" explanation myself, but had doubts about its validity as there doesn't seem to be anything heavy duty about the unit installed in the car. The "U.S." part is probably valid as the car was ordered in the United States and I picked it up at the factory in July, 1964. Interestingly enough, under the Auftrags-Nr., the code for the region making the order (the 2nd, 3rd and 4th digits) is "719" which indicate the car was ordered from St. Pierre et Miquelon. That is certainly not the case and those digit should be in the 708-718 range which represented the United States as the place of order. It looks as if even the Fahrzeug-Daten might have had the occasional error. I'll go with the "heat exchanger" as the most likely explanation until shown differently.

"was ordered in the United States and I picked it up at the factory in July, 1964"

Then you should know which "dealer" that car had ordered .....

I not only know the dealer, I remember the salesman.

THAT is very UNIQUE !!!!! ;-)

Then you should be able to tell us what dealercode "719"realy is .... instead of the false explanation above .....

"719" is the region code for St. Pierre et Miqelon indicating that the order was placed from there which is quite obviously an error as the car was ordered from a dealer in New York State. If the Fahrzeug-Daten was accurate, this code should fall in the 708-718 range of numbers which was used at the time to indicated the United States as the location of the ordering dealer. Please read my posts carefully as it is impossible to explain this anomaly any more clearly than has already been done.

Oups,
Sorry I would not indicate that your statement was inaccurate, but more that those dealercodes are not always accurate. It is possible those codes were changed afterwards ....

We know for example, that several SA-codes got later other meanings/items.
So the timetable for each code is very important. !!!
I suspect this might be also for those dealercodes .... so the listing of the dealercodes could have failures
