108 250S engine type

I'd like to know the engine number in a 250S with twin Zenith's .

The M130 engine came in the later 280S models.

thanks

You are both mistaken. M129. If it were a 114 it would be M114.

maybe the germans know...

Mercedes-Benz M 108 ? Wikipedia

From the Mercedes-Benz M 108 other engines were derived: First, the M 129 engine as an injection model with 110 kW (150 hp) of power, on the other hand the M 114 engine, but with the same capacity and the same power which had some differences.

This type of engine and the same time built injection-M 129 came through a striking accumulation of engine damage due to thermal problems in the criticism. With this arrangement, larger piston speeds proved the old design from 1951 with three pairs of cylinders of unequal spacing of the holes and longer stroke, thus at high speeds technically near the end or thermally overwhelmed. The follow-engine type M 130 for models 280 S / SE was then, the findings umsetzend, designed with uniform cylinder intervals, for better cooling and quickly introduced into the market. The building types in M 108 and M 129 were thus produced for only a short time. These motors must, correct moves, not unreliable per se.However, they should warm up before heavy load first carefully and then not also demand the maximum performance over a long time - a characteristic or peculiarity which they share with many older types of motors from Alfa Romeo and Jaguar. Strong load before reaching the operating temperature and continuous full power dislike these engines. Such could end up in a costly engine damage to be repaired (piston seizure). In addition, true here that many Mercedes engines benefit from good motor oil.

So for a carb engine I still vote M108 (since that is what is in my car)

I stand corrected. I think that it is more common to refer to the engine as M129 and M130 independent of fuel injection, but I do see the reference to the M108. FWIW I disagree with the translated text that makes bad remarks about the M129...

So now that this is somewhat clarified, why did you want to know?
