a 1975 280 is carburetor, not fuel injection unless it is a 280e, so there is less issue with bad gas (because it's easier to clean with a carb system than a FI system). The heater fan is important. When you have the AC knob (if it has AC) to the minimum setting, the heater fan control controls the fan for the heater. When you have it on other than the minimum setting it controls the fan for the AC. Make sure both fans work.
I'm still unenthusiastic about the car because of price / age / rubber.
