I am torn.
The price is reasonable IF the rebuilds were complete on engine and trans. The paint is good, and your assessment of the interior seems sound.
The biggest value pump is the smaller Euro type bumpers and the banana blinkers. Very sought after for transplanting to newer cars. If there were euro headlamps, it would be a coup.
I suspect the suspension has been dealt with, given the power train update. The car probably was a well loved driver that saw many excursions. The standard ending would have seen the car drug off to the knackers, since they are not worth more than scrap in questionable running condition. I have found some sweet examples at PnP that had expensive, but minor power train issues but no other problems.
The SLC is not sought after. Except for rally and driving events. Not that this one would be. The fixes may have bumped MPG back to 15 or so, from a low of 9 prior to the work. They have put 20k on the clock since rebuild, so it is just getting broken in. About time for trans filter and fluid change. Probably did a full update sweep when the engine was done, so mostly chronological age, not wear.
Suspension rebuild is expensive, and if you paid for engine stuff, the $1800 for rubber replacement would be a no brainer. More obvious it would have been done if they drove another 20k. Anybody tried to put miles on a car with crapped out front end? I have. You do not put more than ten tanks of fuel before you decide to bite the bullet or not drive the car.
Were I you, Ryacura, I would take it for a spin, ask if you can carefully pull up the cabin carpets and check the metal in the trunk. Footwells will show if there is rust, as will seeing how petrified the drain plug rubber is. Buyer seems fairly versed on value of the car were it top shape. His price is for a 9/10 example IMHO. An offer of $5k is more than he has in his wallet now. It also seems to reflect what he invested to keep her on the road.
