Gasket

Hi
When I use gaskets such as head gasket, oil pan gasket and similar should I use silicon with the gaskets or just the gasket itself?

Thank you

MB gaskets

and machined mating surfaces are excellent. I use a thin coat of grease on the gaskets to hold them in place while mating the parts. Nothing else.

A coating of oil or light grease is fine as rocky mentioned. When replacing your head and after the gasket is on ,place two small clean pieces of 3/8 ply or wood on top of the gasket before placing the head for safety. Just a suggestion .Good luck with everything. You are doing great.
