1977 450 Sl Same old Fuel Issues
1977 450 SL. Running fuel Pressure between WUR and fuel distributer is at 6psi/ 1/2 Bar. Does not fluctuate, bleed off with key off is less than 5 seconds. With inlet fuel line disconnected and in container, will not start pumping until air inlet diaphram is pushed down and cold start engaged. Then pump will run continuously until key off. Will start with the basic questions.
1) With key turned to "on" should the fuel pump run until running pressure reached ? This is function of fuel relay?
2) what is the standard running pressure?
3) I "assume" that 6 psi is not a good running pressure....
4)The abnormally quick return to 0 pressure most likely culprit is the fuel pressure accumulator?
5) Have aquired with car a fuel pump check valve, should it be installed? Is this not the job of the fuel pressure acumulator ?
Sorry for all the old questions coming back, have done a lot of reading and just want to verify what I think is going on.....
