The interior is about 95% perfect. There are a couple of little things I'd like to eventually address. I added a couple of pictures above. The engine compartment is all original. It will shine as well as the rest of the car once I give it a good de-greasing.

Is that the factory finish? Give us hacks some tips so we can try to achieve that level of shine. I always am alarmed with the paint transfer onto my buffing pads (which for single stage paint is normal, I'm told) and ease up for my patented less-than-perfect results.

Also, I'm going to sneak over in the middle of the night, swipe those bumperettes and throw them in the river. Everything else looks great, really a nice looking 108.

Let us know when the video's ready to go.

It's been resprayed the OEM black many years ago. You are doing it right with the buffing pads though. That's the way to make single stage paint shine. (Although this is my first MB, I've had other cars from the 60's-70's) The trick to it is to use the correct compound (I prefer Mothers) and to use a really low RMP like 600 or a circular buffer (not orbital). If you were to go into any good detail shop, that's what you'll find.

Haha, those bumperettes sure are ugly. I'll have to check the condition of the chrome underneath it and make a decision if they stay on or not.

The video won't be done until spring as I haven't finished (or started) shooting at any of the locations I have in mind.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
