While I applaud the genius of snebcb to make this work on the M130 engine, I would argue to leave the stock setup in there.

First, it's a decent setup and not really too messy to change. For me, when I change the oil, there is something cool about
working on the mechanical technology from the early 70's

Second, when you open that hood to show your beautiful engine, it will look a lot better
seeing the stock aluminum cover than a brightly colored one that shows its brand name. (unless you spray paint the filter before it goes in)

Third, it will be easier to remember that you need a filter for a 1971 Mercedes 250c instead of a 1997 Nissan Quest 3.0L.

Keep up the great work, I can't wait for better weather for you too.

Update: February 4th 2014:

I have all the parts ready for assembly.
I am waiting for better weather conditions as my garage is not heated and I should be able to put everything back together in few days.

In the meantime I have put the list of items I bought, repaired, paid for this rebuild in case someone is interested and plans to do the same.
I have included prices from few different places so I hope it saves some time for someone.
Yellow ones are the ones I bought.

Thank you.

After horrible winter and retarted temperatures on the first good day
I have cleaned and painted the transmission case, front subframe and engine block

In the next week or so I will start the assembly
