Advice on Starting a 230SL after 1 yr?

Hi. Parked car a year ago. Garaged. Before I did I Inflated tires plus a few psi. Filled tank plus a bottle of stabil. Let it run for 15 min to circulate the stabilizer.

Now I wanna start it and get to driving it again. Advice? I'll change oil ASAP but any additives I should think about? Or try to burn that gass off ASAP or sea foam (what is that really for anyway?) or?

Thanks. Tom

1 year in a garage isn't too bad. Especially with the precautions you've already taken (stabilizer, etc). If you want to be extra careful, you could remove the valve cover, drop some oil on the camshaft lobes, rockers, etc), then rotate the crank by hand (either from the fan, or the power steering pulley via 22mm wrench) a few times to get it circulating.

I think you are fine overall, especially considering the fuel precautions, but once you do get it started be sure it is at a time where you can take it for a long leisurely cruise, there will likely be condensation, fuel possibly in some places you may want to evaporate/burn it out, and so on. This will give all the fluids time to warm and spread around to recoat seals. The bigger issue with sitting one year would most likely be developing leaks from inactivity.

one year is ok , just check water / oil level , start and drive gently , watch the brakes , make sure they release .
