Thoughts on this 280SE 4.5?

This car was just listed on ebay this morning and it looks pretty nice. I wondered what the group thought would be a reasonable amount to pay for it. All original but quite nice condition and completely new, moldings off, paint job.

Mercedes Benz 200 Series 280SE | eBay

It has a "buy it now" price of about $14,000.

What's your best estimate of what it should sell for?

Thanks!
Steve

If the paint was worn out and the engine has never been cleaned, then I imagine all the rubber bits needs replaced. This isnt a car that was lovingly cared for. There is probably a lot of deferred maintenance waiting.

Seller says he spent $4800 for exterior re-do. I assume that means new paint and rubber. the photographs showing rubber look like good rubber, but there isn't enough close-ups to tell. I don't care that the engine isn't detailed, but to each his own. I think it's fairly high $$$ for a W108 sedan.

I agree. I think the price it too high and I've decided not to pursue it. The rubber by the way has not been replaced. Also the heater dial is broken, the windshield has two dings in it so that needs replacing, and who knows what else would be found upon inspection. I'll watch with interest to see what it sells for, but won't be an active bidder. Thanks for your thoughts.

Pricey bugger. All newly purchased MBs need at least $2000 in work to fix basic stuff. Don't overpay when you buy.
