Results of Duel/Identical Exhausts?

I've been debating dad on the benefits of a dual exhaust for my 108. If I were to buy a muffler identical to the existing one, and hook things up such that 4 cylinders exhausted to one and the other 4 to the other muffler, what would the result be? Quieter car? Better performance?

Better performance potential. Noise will depend on muffler(s) selected.

Doesn't a 4.5 come with a dual stock? Or maybe I'm misreading something.

The original system is a true dual system-the difference is the mufflers are 2 in-2 out. the rear muffler is straight through (I cut an old one in half) but not sure about the center muffler. There is a crossover (H pipe) built into the front section. The diameter is a little smallish at 1.75". There is not much room for different mufflers under the car. I have been pondering what exhaust to use on my 5.6 conversion.
