Is it possible for the timing chain to NOT have a master link?
I need to remove and replace my camshaft and all related bearings. I was turning the engine by hand looking for the master link. I must have done three full rotations of the chain looking at the back and the front of the chain, and I cannot seem to see a master link. Are there some chains that do not have a removable master link? If mine doesnt, do I need to grind off the rivits?
As you can see in the photos, the notch on the camshaft is ligned up with the mark on the bearing tower, and the distributor is in the position to fire on the number 1 cylinder. I am assuming this is where the removable link shoud be.
If I have to grind it off, does anyone know of a source for a master link that I could purchase.
