W114 camshaft info
So to deal with the ticking issue
i changed the oil to 10w30 castrol gtx and even though the ticking continued, the engine runs lighter, has higher oil pressure and sound s better, at least to me.
i think rotella 15w40 was too thick.
i have checked the camshaft and my lobes are all good, and used the stethoscope to trace the sound. it is definitely coming from the back of the top of the engine. i.e last 2 cylinders area.
so it must be rocker, or valve or camshaft bearing.
i need to take parts out to find out exactly what it is.
i also noticed the valve cover support towers were bent close to the camshaft, specially the back one, i know for sure it was away when i installed the cover. i pushed it away again before installing the cover.
couldn't it be that the tower support gets close to the camshaft once i tighten the bolts on the valve cover and touching the camshaft?
could it be that simple?
