let me know what you come up with .
I am in Southern California, so shipping would be difficult, but if they want too much money, I can probably sell you a complete system or parts for reasonably amount ......(no rust of course)

Nice. I know Rock has the rear muffler for about $135. No one seems to have the mid muffler which was removed because of a large hole. Need to get an estimate on replacing all of the pipe.

There ain't no party like a Detroit party...

UPDATE! So another day of driving a good ways. Went about 15 miles, watched a play for a couple of hours, drove to an after party for a an hour then drove another 20 miles home. Once again NO ISSUES with missing. I guess we will call this good then and close out this thread. Unless of course you all want me to post every time I drive it more than 20 miles without an issue....

Great!
Like to know the fault in the old distributer. Are the trigger points at fault?

Yes for the distributor (that came in the car and is still in the car) I replaced the ignition points, rotor, condenser, cap and last but not least..... the trigger points. In the end it was the trigger points that were bad and were the root cause of the issue.
However..... the condenser was not hooked up as the wire was burned and the cap was bad and had corrosion on the contacts. The rotor may have been ok and the ignition point may have been ok too.
It was in fact the replacement of the trigger points that fixed the problem. I still have the other distributor that I picked up from the good running 450SL. I was going to sell it on Ebay but..... think I will pull the trigger points and sell them instead and hold onto the rest of the distributor.
