If you still have the original cam chain, it might be advisable to replace it. With oil changes every 3000 km it should last 300,000 km max. Every 6000 km, it last only 200,000 km or less. With a new valve job you will have enough power to burn your tires in second gear. I had my chain replaced and the head redone at 70,000 km. My fault as my water pump belt let go in the mountains and I had to drive to the next town 100 km away at slow speed and coasting when possible. At that time it cost me $1800 + tax. One should always carry a spare set on a big trip. Live and learn.
