Drivability issue 1973 280 SEL 4.5 Litre
I have a problem with my 73 280 SEL 4.5 V8. Car runs fine when cold and most of the time when warm, if anything maybe runs a little rich. However, at time when it is fully warmed up it will develop a miss and it feels like it is running on 4 cylinders. My wife can drive to work in the morning but on the way home it will act up and I have to go and get her. I can usually get the car home with great difficulty, when home and it cools down it will run fine. I am not 100% sure if it is heat related or not, seems to be. I have checked and or changed the following, fuel filter, plugs, wires, ignition points, cap and rotor. All vacuum lines and fuel lines are in great condition. I think I may have a problem with the Fuel Injection Points or Trigger Points. So, my big question is, can I just pull these out and clean properly and put them back in? Or is there a procedure to set these up, gap? or otherwise? Should I pull the distributor to mess with? I do not have anyone close by that I am aware of who knows anything about these and I have not been able to find a factory service manual for this one.
Thanks in advance for any help, long time at reading this forum as my wife and I restored thing one and we used this forum many times thru the whole process.
