W110 200 With weird signal light placement

Mercedes-Benz : 200-Series 4door sedan in Mercedes-Benz | eBay Motors

the car looks strange, inside and out, because of the "wood trim" the guy mentions, but what's strangest is the style of light that sits underneath each headlight. The W110's never had the round, ponton-style light. They either had the rectangular light or no light at all. Am I wrong? Where could these have come from?

I recall seeing this thing somewhere else, maybe in Benzworld... The front fenders have been modded to house one headlight per, and the turn signals have been moved outboard. There's a pic of the car in a garage, with another classic Benz - you can see where the signal light housings used to be.

I'm not fond of the headlight mod, but I like the wood trim he put in. I imagine some sort of shrink wrap or heat treated veneer was used, something I wouldn't mind doing to my own Benz.

Despite the glowing description there are some interesting "tells" in the pictures, such as the ragged inner door opening trim, for example. While the car looks good in the photos for the most part there are issues I see that make me skeptical of the true condition. Things like the chrome cross stops missing from the radiator, the worn bolster on the driver's seat, the non-stock air cleaners and fuel pressure regulator...

Tough to say without seeing it in person....
