W114 250C Steering Wheels

I noticed that Luna's 72 250 has the newer style steering wheel and my 71 250C has the older thin steering wheel with the chrome horn ring.

Can I update to the newer steering wheel? Mine is cracked.

The thinner one is the one that is desirable
Replace with the same if you can

I think mine is too far gone to repair and I''ll search for a replacement and center piece (not cheap), but I would still like the more modern version s. wheel for driving. So will that fit on my steering column?

Matter of taste. I hate the thin ones even if "period correct". They have always cracked on me and even though they are easily repaired they just crack in a different place.

Straight swap. Late '73's up have the wheel you are looking for and I do believe Mr. "K" is looking to part out a '73 which might have the wheel you're looking for.

When I began to restore this 250, the original steering wheel was/is in pretty rough shape, cracks are everywhere. The plan was to temporary have the newer style steering wheel on the car, while I restored the original one. Even though I prefer how the original one looks, I have to say the newer style one is so much more comfortable and is dosent have one crack. Keep in mind this newer wheel was baking in the summer sun and freezing in the cold of winter at the local junkyard. It was a direct swap and took all but 5 minutes. I'm in no hurry now to get the original one back on the car.

Thanks for the feedback! There are a couple on EBxx that I might bid on. Out here, the salvage yards don't stock the W114/115 too often.

If Mr. K has one, I'd be interested!
