In a senior moment I forgot to answer your question about carburetor synchronizing. There is a simple and inexpensive tool called a "Unisyn". It fits over the throats of carburetors, measures air flow at idle and indicates the flow measurement by a ball pulled up a transparent graduated tube by vacuum. The idle screws are simply adjusted at each carburetor until the ball rises the same distance at each carburetor.
When I was a college kid in the 1960s I had a hot rod Ford roadster powered by an Oldsmobile engine with 6 carburetors on a log manifold. Using a Unisyn I synchronized those 6 Stromberg 97s to yield a stable idle and good power from off idle to WOT. You can do it!
