Nice car. You'll enjoy it.
What is the paint code on it?
There will be a tag on the front fender cross member which will have a line of numbers and a letter or two. This is a list of the paint and a few other options. You can also request the "build" sheet from the MB Classic center which will tell the installed options when your car was manufactured.
Mike see photo and me know what you can decode. I will reach out to Tom Hansen on the build sheet. Does that cost money?
SSK: Previous owner said he found the frames at a salvage yard and the lens are available on Ebay. His mechanic put them together. Yes, euro lights makes the car even cooler! I wish the fog lights were all chrome. Need to explore that.
Kadavarci: Mechanically it seems sound. Cosmetic issues. No real rust. What do you think its worth??...maybe I didn't get such a deal! Windshield needs replacing plus new gaskets, rear rubber needs a changeout. Local glass folks quote $210 for glass only install. Glass any good? As far as rubbers, sure MB OEM is the best, what is a close second? There are sellers on EBay(one from Turkey) that seems to have decent prices.... but decent quality?
Does anyone have working ac? Is it difficult to revive the system? Previous owner not sure it works. Here in SF, AC is not crucial, but still...!
I'll start separate threads on the issues I need to tackle. My first will be the seats tilting forward to get to the back seats! I noticed a rubber hose loose on the drivers side. Already not a good sign! The button on the inside near the door jam does nothing and manually tilting the seat is not working. The vacuum system is probably trashed. Door locks if they are pnematic are currently actuated with a Clifford alarm system...convenient but not too too classy. I generally hate alarm systems!
Thanks all! Guess this is an intro thread for this car. Off to the salvage yard to see what donor parts I can acquire!
