New Fuel Pump w108

Ive just got myself a 1966 250s w108 which I plan on doing up.It needed a new fuel pump so I got a new one for it today but it is different from the original one being it sticks out further and I cant bolt it on as it is touching the power steering pipe. the original one kinda went up more than out, it had a threaded fitting for one pipe and slip over other, where as my new one is both slip over pipes. anyway do you think I can cut the power steering pipe its the low pressure one and re join it with a rubber pipe which will be more flexy and then the fuel pump can be mounted.

thanks for any help new to the game..
