New owner of a W114 1972 250!

Hello all, usually you wouldn't see me here, I hang out on the ML forums a lot But now I own a 1972 Mercedes 250!

The good:
No Rust
Paint is in decent condition
Leather is in great shape
It drives well!
Carb was rebuilt

The bad:
Sat for about 10 years
Does not idle (At stops I have to put into neutral and keep giving it gas or engine stalls)
Starter needs replaced
It's missing all of the carpeting on the floor

Does anyone know what can be causing the idling issue?

Looking forward to being on this part of the forum

Andrei

PS: heres a pic, only one I have right now!

Lucky you
No idea where you find these cars but that is one hell of a buy
Is it single silex carb?
New gas carb cleaner plugs is your staring point

Congratulations
If the paint is original mequiers #7 will refresh it

Very nice but just because its a Mercedes doesn't mean it has leather....if it sat for 10 years I would think the tank would need to be boiled...new plugs...new oil...carb rebuild...all the normal stuff..

Those are not euro headlights, they are North America headlights
Probably has mbtex instead of leather which is better than leather it will last forever

Thanks for the replys Thankfully it sat in a garage for those 10 years! lol and also I believe that there are Weber carbs on it right now, not the originals. Will it be difficult to rebuild? I've never worked with carbs before..
I've changed the plugs and wires with NGK BP6ES plugs and Bosch wires, going to change oil with Shell 15w-40 diesel engine oil. Will this be good for the car? Sorry for all the questions, i'm a newbie to the classics

Andrei. If you still have the original fuel pump , which has a build in filter and will be full of crud from your tank. I had mine dealer serviced for 30 years and not once did they check
the blasted thing. I now do most of the work myself. There is a single screw holding the filter cover and its difficult to service. I found out when I purchased a new pump #002-091-69-01 plus washer #115-504-00-82 and took the original out. There was all my trouble in front of me. Coincidently, the old one was still fine. I now have a filter in front of my new pump which doesn't have a filter. Hope this helps. Harald

Andrei, I know i commented on your instagram pictures, but once again, congratulations, and that is a stupendous find.

ML320: 1999, black, in dash iPad Mini, LED tails, Facelift headlights with Hella E55's, 6k bulbs, RallyCrossed, and 250k and counting.

And a few other, less reliable cars...
