My new to me '72 250C (and intro thread)

Hi guys. Made an intro thread in the new members section but I will be spending most of my time down here so, thought I'd come say hi. Over the weekend I pulled the trigger on this beautiful machine. Outside she's great. Inside the trimmings need some attending to and replacement and whatnot, but It's becoming a fun project. Already started gluing the door cards back together and getting it all tightened up. 158K on the motor and counting. Looking forward to hopefully many years of use and getting her back to where she was.

this is me addressing why the windows wouldnt roll up.

Nice pick, love the color combo! Did you get any pictures of the door inner workings for the windows? I have an intermittent power window and am going to tackle it this winter, very little info on coupe windows.

Instagram @derstrichacht for interesting W114/5 pics.

Check and keep the drains clear! They are located in the bottom rocker panels, in the seam where the rear quarter panel adjoins with the rockers, inside the trunk (hidden behind the pasteboard inserts), in the front wheel wells at the bottom, under the battery tray and under the mesh ventilation screen in the front of the car (accessible through the round vent tubes in the firewall).

Check the mounting area of the steering gearbox for cracking. The '70's models were prone to this. Easy fix if you catch it BEFORE the frame area cracks.

I did not get any pics, however its a basic scissor design. I just removed the door card, I didnt actually disassemble the secondary inner shell. What I did find however (and this may help you) is that all the connectors have to be hooked into working switches in order for that window to work. For instance for me to get the back window up from the front controls, the back switch had to be plugged into a working single switch. I had to 'borrow' the one from the passenger side. Its like the old style of christmas lights where one bad bulb would cause the whole strand not to work.

Kavadarci: Yeah I have seen your threads. Good looking car. I plan on doing the black plastidip grille mod as well. Also using the crosshair headlights from a MKII GTI with ecode pattern beams and HID's. But those will be the finishing touches. First is making sure shes road worthy every day. I need to do a fluids flush and carb clean too. As for price, I paid $2,000 for mine with a cracked windshield, no radio, and the center console pretty much taken apart. I have some work to do to get it back up to OEM standards. The median price for something thats all cleaned up is around 5-6K USD.
