1975 280E. W114- M110 engine problems

Hey all, i own a 1975 280E, W114, with the M110 D-jetronic Ignition? i think?
anyway, im having trouble getting it started and running properly.
i have put new leads, plugs, ignition module, coil, had the injectors done, fuel pump, both lower and upper distributor 'things'...?

Any help much appreciated.

Is there any Mercedes fans/freaks in Perth willing to help?

Cheers

More details about the problem would help to diagnose. To help, we would need a lot more descriptive information about the problem.

In other words:

Does it start? If it starts, how does it run? Does it stall immediately? Does holding the throttle open keep it running? Does it bog when you open the throttle? It is missing? Or what is the idle like?

When i get an older car, one of the things that I go through, is all the vacuum lines. With EFI, vaccum leaks can really mess things up. Also, it is also sensitive to fuel pressure.

What kind of diagnostic equipment do you have?

This is just a start.

it struggles to start, just turns over. once it does star tit struggles and runs rough. I've set the timing on it slightly advanced to the white mark on the harmonic balancer. smells rich when its trying to start so i know there is plenty of fuel. any info would be helpful.
cheers

If you keep it running until it reaches operating temperature, does the idle smooth out? Could be a cold start issue.

What do the plugs look like? Sooty? Are they all the same?

Do you have a vacuum gauge? You should have around 18 at idle. (I am not that familiar with that car, so, it can be somewhat different.) It should be steady.

Did you check all the vacuum lines? Don't forget the line going to the brake booster. The booster itself can leak, creating an erratic idle.

On a car that old, it could be problems with high resistance grounds. Check all the grounds for good contact.

Someone more familiar with the EFI on that car can help more, as some of the sensors could be bad, such as the MAP, temp sensors, etc.
