I strongly disagree on it looking correct. If the car has a Becker Mexico (which is likely) or a Gran Prix (which is less likely but nicer) I would try to keep those and have them repaired. Chances are that the speakers are the problem. As said, you can add an MP3 input to Becker radios. I think the catch is the "easy" plug-in-back input for a Mexico stereo is probably a mono input. That would be a deal breaker for me. I would go with a period becker stereo and add the MP3 input to it for the iPhone...

I'm pretty happy with the RetroSound Model One, Becker style, as seen below... Have had this in the 380SL for months, will probably take it along for the 300D we just bought. good sound and the knobs are a perfect match for the original Becker type... And can hear it with the top down at 80 which is something a modded 70s Becker can't claim.

It's important to get the style of radio you really like in a 107... It's staring at your face level instead of being somewhere down by the ashtray like in a 123 or 126...

Becker had a modern version of the classic decks out a few years ago called the "Mexico 7948". Don't think many of them made it stateside but worth a look.

I think that looks significantly better than the autosound unit. Not sure it made it stateside because I'm not sure navigation maps are available for it and the United States...
