When I installed a similar style pump on my '66 230, I recall that there was a specification for "lash" or the clearance between the plunger and the cam (don't remember whether is was at TDC or BDC). If you have this spec and can do the measurement, then the clearance can be adjusted by shimming or trimming the neoprene spacer.
I hope your Meyle is better quality than the one I tried. It worked, but constantly leaked oil out of the weep hole. I finally junked it and went with an electric pump
