Brake light problems, 220s

The brake lights are giving me troubles again. I got one of them to work reliably when I replaced the switch. The other brake light would work if you hit the tail light assembly. I had bigger problems and had to replace much of the brake system. Now there are no brake lights.
Is this a chronic problem because of the tail light assembly (there is always water in there.) Or did I botch it?

Any ideas? The car is a 220S, if that makes a difference.

If it works when you hit the assembly that tells me it;s most likely a ground issue. Use bulb grease on the ground and brush it with wire brush or whatever you prefer to clean the contact areas. The bulb seat itself may not be grounding to the bulb either so clean that, bend them tighter and try a new bulb or again, clean bulb and add bulb grease. Bulb grease can be found at parts store for $1 or so in a small packet the size of a handy wipe you get at a chicken joint to clean your little fingers.
