The inner panel is clipped on, open the roof to a 2 inches and gently unclip the leading edge and carefully remove the liner.
Once removed you will see a tube in the centre and a metal beam going across the sunroof panel, close the sunroof and watch what the bar does, it should move forward to lock the sunroof in the up position and when you open the sunroof it should pull back to drop the rear of the panel.
At either end of the bar there are 2 screws each side, if they are loose or missing that will stop the panel from rising up when in the fully closed position.
You can test this by disconnecting the cable by unbolting the bracket at the leading edge of the panel and carefully pushing the bar to the front of the car, if it does not move with the cable disconnected to the roof there is the problem.
I hope this helps you out.
