Cruise control/engine shut down switch vacuum problem
Here is my problem, 1976 300D. HAD THE throttle linkage silver soldered up to tighten up the mess, looked great, better acceleration, but then I could not shut down the engine with out using the manual control in the engine bay. Did a leak check, found a one way check valve leaking to the green line to the left side of the vehicle into the cabin. Did a suction check on the shut off valve with a bit of line, engine running , shut of fine. Now here is the kicker, if I set cruise control, the cruise control hunts for speed up to five miles an hour, if you hit a slight incline, it will drop off up to 20 miles an hour. Also, the engine will not shut off, but if I engage the air con control, turn it from twelve o'clock to about 2 o'clock and hear the small doors close in the pedestal area, I loose my vent air, but the cruise control pulls right back to its setting , and the engine will shut off straight away with the key. The air con compressor does not need to engage for this to all happen. I am a bit baffled by this.
