Newest development after my mechanic adjusted it.

It still has the clunk when downshifting to that first gear, also the 2nd shift on acceleration has begun to rev and then thud into gear, but if I let off like a manual it shifts fine.

OR IF I floor it wide open it will slip when shifting and slam into gear

I am thinking a module is knackered somewhere on the tranny. Fluid is clean, and it shifts like a dream when running correct (week ago). Also doesnt slip when going uphill or from a stop etc

Need some help on this ASAP!

Kitaka's "microswitch" response is related to what people with Weber setups need to add to their cars in order to compensate for the lack of a built-in switch on the carburetor. It isn't relevant to your problem.

Everything you have said about this experience makes me think that you need to get the car away from the mechanic. This just isn't working out well. Get the mechanic to un-adjust whatever he did and then get back to basics with someone else.

This is very incorrect. Un-adjust whatever has been done.

This is not really following the advise of what is written in this thread. If you really need help ASAP then do the following:

1. post photographs of the wires going to the carbs.
2. Look for a wire that isn't connected
3. Look for terminals on the carbs

I am 90% convinced that this has to do with you having the carbs rebuilt and then not having a single wire re-connected properly, or the switch that is integral to the carb being goofed up in the rebuild process. Going to the transmission adjustment path is IMHO adding problems.

Did the CLUNK into 1st happen before you had the carbs rebuilt?????????
